Had a pin hole leak in copper piping monday at my mom’s house, turned the water off and today fixed it. Sure is nice to have 23 & 19 year old sons that can do the crawling under the house.

Sharkbite fittings are awesome, together with pex pipe, makes plumbing a lot easier and faster than the old solder days.

Yea I tried to explain to the boys that years ago I had to crawl under the house and help my dad sweat new fittings on to fix plumbing issues.

"What do you mean sweating fittings dad?" lol

Sure do miss the little pointers from my dad or even just having him along to do projects with. One of the best tricks he taught me about sweating a fitting was a chunk of bread. When you can't get it to totally drain, make a little catfish sized ball of bread and stuff it in the pipe. Sweat that dude as fast as you can while the bread is absorbing/stopping the water from flowing. It's the 8th wonder of the world.

Yea I sure miss my dad, Friday will be 5 years since we lost him. I am so greatfull for that he taught me and I hope to try and do the same for my sons.
