Populars not looking good

I have a couple 30” populars in one of my plots that look pretty rough spring to now. maybe 50% limbs appear dead and no leaves. i started looking at more populars or popel on the property and some appear fine but i was just wondering if people are seeing any issues with theirs?
Any other tree issues you guys having?
I think it’s going to be a good growing year overall though. lots of good rain so far.

Prolly drowned. Or the drought last season did a number.

We have a huge maple tree behind our house that's our primary shade tree. It looks the worst I've seen it in 30 years. We had a late frost and I wonder if that, combined with the stress of last year's drought to harm it. Same may be said for the poplars.
