Positive words of Motivation

Not real motivating Mike. lmao

Yeah Mike. Try Jesse's word: Hope. Aw crap. Bad choice. That was one of the promises in the last election. Lol

Mission accomplished. I used the assets at my disposal today: a cell phone, and an 85hp skid loader with a 2.5yd bucket. We rocked this job out! Cleaning up now.

New word: Victory!

I hope the new word rings true for some of you tomorrow in the woods!

Victory is ours!

Monday word for me is: Focus

It is easy for me to finish a huge project like the one we did last week and think "I should reward myself by being lazy." Not this week. We have other projects cooking, 3 kids in activities, and my wife is about to go from nights back to days for 6 weeks. This keeps us all in a crazy schedule. For deer season to be enjoyed by myself, I need to stay focused. I need to be diligent in my efforts and better with my time management.

Monday word: FOCUS

Endurance.

Shame on me for not updating this recently. Things have been very busy. I have a big list and schedule ahead of me the next 3 days. Really the next several weeks are crazy. I think "endurance" is a good word. Sometimes we just need to be able to sustain the pace we are working at whether it is our occupation, family obligations, or hunting. The rut isn't here yet, but I know i need energy for the rut hunting. In the meantime, I need to keep focused and have the endurance to make it through long stretches of work and obligations.

ENDURANCE!

Ketchup. Today I am playing catchup. Some of these projects have been long overdue.

Catsup, ketchup, catchup. . . . pick your choice. Ketchup to go with the bacon is a good word combo TOO!

Patience. Right now in my work, I am waiting on contracts again for snow. Three of them are substantial. I know my competition. I know what it takes to do the work. I have done these jobs since 2004. A maintenance company has come in and undercut me. Now they want me to do the jobs for 1/3-1/2 the price we have previously done them for. Patience. Patience is waiting for them to award the bids to a company which cannot handle these sized facilities. I will wait them out. When the other companies fail or the maintenance company is fired for not holding up their end of the bargain, we will get them back. Same thing happened 2 years ago. I had a relaxing winter and chuckled every time I drove by and the lots were in terrible condition. The following year (last winter) we had the accounts back. I can play this game. I just need "Patience."

Same goes for deer hunting right now. Time has not been on my side. I also have had slow action the last couple of sits. I wanted to get out this morning, but with night time temps in the mid 50's, I opted to sleep instead. Stay out, let the weather/winds/and internal clocks of the deer dictate when I get back out.

Patience. Ahhh. Hard for me, but I must have patience.

TENACITY!

Today I meet with a maintenance company on three large retail plazas. Just got a call on 3 Bob Evans restaurants. Returned one call today on another retail plaza. 99% sure it is just a new property manager calling about a property we already maintain. They are horribly slow payers. I might be dropping them soon. I have 2 other local businesses to bid today as well. November is closing in quickly! People are getting frantic to round up their snow contractors. I am going after these accounts with a sense of confidence and tenacity like no other. I am confident we can ink the contracts on at least a reasonable percentage (say 33%) of these bids. When other guys are making promises like politicians, this is the time to show these property managers what you HAVE maintained in the past, not what you "think" you can handle. I realize this very well may come across as arrogant or cocky. In reality, it is a confidence in your abilities (borderline arrogant, yet not crossing the line), which gives a property manager faith in your abilities to handle their accounts. A phone conversation tells the truth on you. They will know if you can handle the account or not based on how you answer the questions, and with what questions you ask them.

TENACITY! TENACIOUS!
