Sitting at Dayton Airport waiting to take off for the first leg of our trip to Germany. Figured I would start a thread to share our adventure.

Year before last my wife and I hosted an exchange student from Germany. Bene is from Regensburg in the state of Bavaria. Good kid from what appears to be a good family. We have our political differences but we enjoyed the 10 months he was here.

Bene came back a few weeks ago to visit us. He spent a couple weeks with us on this trip. We had planned it out so we would fly back with him to visit his family and Germany. So here we are getting ready to jump across the pond and see what Germany is all about.

I will try to post pics and share as much I can. Hope to find some wifi over there since we aren't paying the extra to have cell service.

I had the pleasure of meeting this kid the other day briefly. Not sure why he hangs out with you Jon. Seems like he’d make better choices then that. Lol

Seriously seemed like a good kid. Held himself well, made eye contact when speaking to someone, clean shaven, and wanted to go watch girls. Not a bad few minutes with that young man!

Enjoy the trip buddy.

Got on the plane in Philly and sat for two hours waiting on maintenance to check a couple things out. Finally made it out.

Flight across wasn't too bad. A little over 7 hours. We landed in Munich about 9am.

Yesterday we spent most of the day just getting settled. We did go for a bike ride to a museum of sorts. Really just an open building with statues of famous people. Sits way up on a ridge overlooking the Danube River. I recognized a few of the famous people but not many. Beethoven, Einstein, Copernicus, etc.

After that we rode the bikes to the ruins of an old castle. Was pretty neat walking through and being able to see what it would have been like. The history here goes back thousands of years. Sometimes we lose sight of that especially when we are used to only having a few hundred years of history.
