Hey guys, i figured this would be a good group to pose this question to. What would you consider to be the top 3 species hunted in Ohio? My thoughts were Deer, Turkey, and coyotes. Curious to know what you guys think from your groups

Good question!

I would say deer, number 1. Then turkeys at number 2. And number 3 I'm not too sure... Probably a toss up between waterfowl and small game like rabbits or squirrels.

For me,
1- deer
2- tie between rabbit and squirrel
3- nusance critters.

Turkey is on the horizon but holding off another season on that obsession...

I understand it can be more obsessive or at least as obsessive as deer.
Work is going to be in the way this year with all the trainees I have to deal with.
Next year my work schedule is suppose to be more predictable and I can get one of you turkey masters to teach me
A few things before I go out there.

I agree with the deer, turkey, but the third one would vary throughout the state.... Rabbit for me, would be 2 and turkey and groundhog would be tied at 3 lol

yeah i was having a hard time pinning down the third, i only thought coyotes because alot of people hunt them, but them not being a game animal, and being more of a nuisance species, makes me reconsider to making my number 3 a waterfowl or a small game like rabbit or squirrel.

Maybe I misinterpreted the question. Are we being asked, what is OUR top 3, or what do we think is the overall top 3 across the state?

Deer
Turkey
Migratory birds (that would include Dove and waterfowl)

Edit: Basically everything they charge us extra to do. Guessing that's why thy charge us more...because it's popular.
