Interesting. But I have a difficult time understanding how he knows for certain it's the same deer year to year.

I remember seeing something like this from CA several years ago and the deer looked very similar. I'm wondering if it is the same research project but it was just up to the 4.5 years of age and this one is the new updated one?!?
He has an enclosure where he does most of his research and photography. Given his track record and longevity in the industry, I imagine he's fairly certain of it...

I've seen part of this article before. It was all about the spike and each year after. It was very interesting. If I remember correctly his last rack was 11-12 years old and he looked awful and passed away a couple weeks after the final picture was taken.
