Gonna be a long night. First rotation of drivers/operators are out. Just a skeleton crew for 24hr locations/high priority locations such as nursing homes and box stores. Next wave comes in at midnight when we get a break in action. Last batch of equipment will have operators at 2am to get a good hit on everything and clean up before businesses open. First "good snow" of the year.

Home and monitoring radar/communicating with my last couple guys out finishing up some salting. High of 34 today. Need a good melt before temps drop out tonight. I'm pooped. Ready for bed but that won't happen for awhile.

Didn't get nearly what was predicted. Woke up early to plow, but only the shovel was needed. So I just did the walks and cleared the vehicles. Disappointed to say the least.

There are about 130 people running two lines in my department at work. The last two snow events had an average of 50 people in my department on third shift calling in for fear of the weather. They had to shut a whole line down because youngins are too scared to drive in snow

Blows my mind Red. Anyone remember the days when you were scared to call in? Period. Sick. Bad weather. Family emergency. Didn't matter. You WANTED to keep your job and feared losing it. Three snowflakes on the radar and people start calling in now? Ugh.

Well I got to jump back in the truck shortly after my last post. Took some company. Wasn't bad. Just more work I had to address. Things are melting nicely now. Got a 2.5hr nap after. Better keep melting too. The bottom of the thermometer is dropping out tonight and tomorrow. 33 and snowing last night. Single digits tomorrow. 50 on Tuesday. I think Mother Nature is going thru menopause.

Some people still do go in, I don’t, but some do. 😂

I couldn’t imagine calling in for every little thing. I try and lead by example for work ethic around my house. I hope these kids realize that. I actually just got home and Levi asked if I had to work tomorrow. Ummm, yeah, gotta go to work to make money. So I explained to him how the real world works and how V-day is a bullshit Hallmark holiday.

All 3 of our boys had school cancelled today, wife's did not. No babysitter, so I offer to work from home, told nope, take vacation day and don't sign in.....there's always 2 sides to a story.

Just remember a majority calling in prolly have a point system and will lose their job if it is excessive. It's not like there are unlimited days. I watch grown men in their 40's-50's work the system at Ford worse than a red light corner hooker. It's all relative.
