I've never had an issue during different snow levels. Then again, we were plowing snow. They let us go because we aren't out screwing off.
Snow plow stories of stupid people? I would need another thread. You would be amazed how many people pull up to the door of a retail place and park in the fire lane. Walk in the store in their PJs. Come out with a bicycle or something stupid. Or you have a 12' or 16' push box in a loader and you are plowing. They could wait 10 seconds and tuck in behind you. They'd have a clear path to drive on. Do they? Oh no. Let's pull in front of the 30,000 pound piece of equipment and make it stop with a full push box of snow. Now it can't get moving again. Need to back up and take a portion of the snow to get momentum going. Can't back up because there is a car behind you who didn't leave any room. Just dumb stuff. Parking space possessiveness is another. If Cindy parks in space 72 every day, then that is HER space in her mind. She could park in spaces 1-71 that we've already cleared. But no! Let's watch a loader coming down here aisle and cleaning the spaces and still decide to park in the snow. I don't understand it. There is a psychology lesson in there somewhere. 2/3 of the lot is clean and they park in the snow because "that's my spot."

@"J" looks like you will get to experience your first real snow experience in the south. I would like to apologize in advance for the stupidity, crazy run on the grocery store, lack of snow removal equipment and general inability of people to drive in the snow.

One of my neighbors is an OTR trucker. He drives from here, to Canada, to Michigan, back to Canada, then back home from Sunday to Thursday every week. He text me today and said his wife needed to get out so she could take care of his 91 year old aunt, but her car wouldn't get through the snow. Said the keys to his tractor were in the garage and he'd pay me to clean their driveway. Of course I told him no payment needed, but I would be happy to clean my driveway when I was done with his. Deal!
He's got a 35 hp Kubota with a 4' box blade and it was the cat's ass for the job. I've never used a box blade until today, but I'm already in the market for one! It's rare that we need to do anything with our driveway since it's flat and 100' long, but it was called for after this one. The over/under for how long the snow piles last is February 5th. Then we'll see how much gravel I displaced

When I lived in Salem, I had a Jacobson paddle style snowblower. Worked well for what I needed it for. I had a neighbor who had a Jacobson auger 2 stage snow blower. That thing was a beast, self propelled, and it’d eat a lot of snow and ice and never miss a beat.
I’d do the neighbors sidewalks with mine when the snow was light. If it got heavy or deep I’d go grab his and clean up our areas. Win, win in my book. After he passed I still cleaned up everything with mine and his, all the neighbors were appreciative. I’d get a lot of baked goods around the holidays

That NNW has kept us in the LE bands, wife's school is canceled and boys are on a 2hr delay. Big ol fluffy flakes, beautiful.
