How’s the battery life on them?Check out Blink cameras. We got ours on Amazon. They work off of your WiFi and the range is pretty good. We’ve got them in the house, outside on the shed, barn and gazebo. Once you buy them, you own them....with no subscriptions to pay. Works off of a single AA battery.
Motion activated, so if you’ve got non stop activity (like in a living room) it’ll last about a month. Outside at the shed it’ll last for about 4-6 months. We use the energizer lithium. You can also go on each camera and watch live footage, as well as the recorded stuff from the motion detector being activated. We had a furniture delivery truck run over our shrubs near the gazebo...my wife complained to the company and they said they weren’t liable because we couldn’t prove that they did it. They claimed the shrubs were already damaged. My wife sent them the footage of their truck running over the landscaping, backing up, then running over it again. They said get an estimate and they would pay. It’s also peace of mind to know if anyone comes to your house, you’ll have video, so if something happens, you can always go back and look. How’s the battery life on them?
I’m imagining they can be recharged by an USB type connector? After our house was broken into a few years ago we put in an ARLO system. It works off the wifi and is completely wireless. Have to charge up the cameras every once in a while. Sends alerts on your smartphone and email when motion is detected. You can also do a "live" lookin anytime you want. It has worked well for us. We have 3 camera in the house and one outside that catches the driveway.
That’s another thing and I’m glad you brought that up, Jim. I’ve seen some pretty crappy night vision video guarding some pretty expensive stuff...How’s the night vision outside?

Wyze cams for inside use. Motion sensing, day/night, 2 way audio, WiFi with notifications. And only like $25 a piece.
My concern about an inside motion activated camera is the dogs constantly setting it off, I’m more concerned about the outside entrance.... Also overlooking the driveway....
No subscription needed for wyze. Maybe they offer them for longer cloud saves or something like most do but nothing required. Never heard of this brand but not a fan of Wally world. Amazons customer service is still fairly decent for CS/returns which can be hit and miss for cheap cams which is my main reason to head to Amazon. No calls or driving and replacements within the week. And I've returned plenty after a year of purchaseI use momentum cams inside and they have the same features. Wifi, motion, night vision, two way audio, custom detection zones, recording and no monthly plans. $48 for a two pack at Walmart.

It really depends how involved you want to be in set up and maintaining. If you just wanna be able to buy something and have an easy set up. For this application a lot of folks love the Ring systems. If you are more tech savvy, there are tons of external IP cams that can be had for super cheap but normally won't have as many easily accessible bells and whistles out of the box that you're probably after with it being an outdoor camera. My concern about an inside motion activated camera is the dogs constantly setting it off, I’m more concerned about the outside entrance.... You can use the Arlo system outside as well. Honestly I am not sure if it is the "best" system out there. It was available at the store the day after we got broken into. Wife needed to have something to put her mind at ease. I will say that it has worked well though for our needs. So what’s the opinion on the units for outside?
I need something there too.
