im lovin these trappin pics, so what do you guys do with the bodies after you skin em and stuff?

Nice pics Zach! I love seeing the coon get wacked,stacked and packed like that. They're way to populated right now.
If I'm trappin rats I have a lot of guys I sell the carcass to (plus keep a few for my freezer) and I keep a couple coon for a buddy of mine.
I throw away everything else.
Found some pics I took early this fall, explains why my trappin season was slow this year lol

You can prepare them just like any mushroom, I use them in everything from eggs to pasta, a little butter and onions with some hens on a fat steak is the nuts (unless I have morels
). I like them just about as much as I do morels.

Yea we find em in the fall mostly under black oak. I don't know what the scientific name is but they are called Hen of the woods..
There is a chicken of the woods that is orange in color that is sweeter tasting too
never heard em called hickory jacks

The hens are at the base or on the ground close to tree (seem to follow roots) I've found them on the roots of a fallen oak, and top of old oak stumps.
The chickens I find (not a lot) are on the trunk 3 or 4 feet up

I've shipped a lot of coon dogs (they weren't good for coon but they did good on bear and those big kitty's you have out there lol) to Tacoma, Spanaway area back in the 80's beautiful country

Blind trail set that produced 5 coon out of 5 nights before the river flooded so bad my water trapping was over for the year. This spot screamed blind set.
