Ric and Karissa's hunting journal for the 2016-2017 season

Thanks Jake!

Well she's been shooting about 36-40 arrows a day spread out though the day so far and is getting stronger and more confident and consistent with everything. She wants to crank up the poundage a scoach this Friday and hopefully able to handle the poundage just over 40 pounds somewhere. I told her maybe we'll have Donnie crank it down one full turn on each limb before getting started on the retune.

Here is her best group so far at 20 yards. She was aiming at the yellow area in the center of the 4 bullseyes.

I can see you and Karissa on the TC pics walking in then some hero pics after she KO's a BBD. YKW!

Thanks guys!

Tomorrow we'll head back to BR pro shop and get her bow readjusted and tuned.

I'll continue updating our progress through this hunting season. Thanks for following along! Feel free to offer advice if you think I/we could or should try something different along our way.

Thanks again!:smiley_coolpeace:

Well, I finally finished up both of our double sets we will be hunting again this season. It's been extremely miserable doing this in this humidity and heat but can't wait around for it to cool down as opening day is getting here fast! I just have a few single sets to hang up then I'm done.
The last few days I installed lifelines,Python cable locks and extra ratchet straps to the two double sets. It feels good to finally have that all done.

Here are some views from both sets.

This is to the east looking down into the crick bottom

This is looking up showing how they're positioned

This is the honeyhole stand where Karissa got her deer last year and I killed TG8 and Halloween buck. In the center of this pic you can see a small shaded(dark) tree. That's where her deer was standing slightly quartered when she shot her deer. This view is to the NW.

This view is to the SW. Two big trees blew over in those high winds back in July.

This is to the south. I need to trim the top of this fallen tree to open up that shooting window a bit. They cross thru here pretty frequently.

This is the view up trunk showing stand positioning.

Karissa came home yesterday mainly to practice shooting her bow. She's coming along nicely and is getting used to drawing 45 pounds pretty good.

Other than putting up a couple single sets and us keep practicing our shooting all that's left is getting our hunting clothes washed and smoked up....:pickle:
