Ok boys I planned on posting everyday but just didn't have time. It was a trip of a lifetime, we took 12 days to go from Chicago to Santa Monica.

cool hawk that kept flying down the road in front of us
a guy built a memorial garden to the trail of tears
at the time this was the largest cut in the country, completed in 1945 to help with the traffic going to Fort Leonard Wood. Driving on it was like being in the apocalypse with no one around

little general store that cooks their own roast beef it was awesome

concrete through arch bridge very similar to the one in Chester, OH
section called the ribbon road, Oklahoma ran out of money so this section is only paved 9 foot wide with gravel shoulders for passing

crazy mcdonalds at the turnpike rest area built over the highway
Route 66 got so busy many small towns built pedestrian underpasses
I bet most of us can remember when all the arby signs looked like this

old drive in being completely redone

Very cool and nostalgic. Desolate, isolated, eerie, abandoned. . . .try doing basic training at Fort Leonard Wood. Did you go on post? Were the old wooden WWII barracks still there? That is where I started.

Cool but some of those pics were kinds sad. Old a run down places with tons of history.
