Anyone have recommendations on a decent sausage stuffer? Vertical / horizontal, capacity recommendations, brand, etc? What do you use? What would you stay away from?

Cabala's had a 2 day sale on their 5# model for $89 but passed on it because I just bought a new grinder. Probably should have jumped on it when I had the chance...

It'll be on sale again. That's the one I have and it seems to work fine. I'm sure there's better ones made, but it works fine for our purpose.

How much butchering do u do is my first question. We butcher a lot( steers, pigs, deer and chickens) and we currently have a new stuffer.

it is a Zuber EZ Pak. The tank holds 100# of meat and is pushed up by an air piston. It is very expensive though over 2,000.
Our last stuffer was an Effdick 30# hand operated stuffer

it was a nice stuffer but we needed a bigger one.
We still have one of these as a back up

for about $100 you can find one. They are great for a person who only uses them a few times a year. This is also all we started with about 10 yrs ago.

Dang, Nathan - those are all cool but that last one is really sweet! I love old tools like that. Pretty cool they named that second one after Giles.

I don't really do anything just yet, I'm just getting started. Between me and my neighbor we did two deer last year and the grinder we used didn't do so well. My Christmas present this year was a really nice grinder from Cabela's.

So far I've made breakfast sausage from a pork butt (made patties, no stuffing yet). I'm thinking a 5# would be perfect for as little as I'd be stuffing. Then again, if my grinder does a good job I may just stick with it.

Yeah it has attachments with it. Seems there's a lot of folks who say stuffing with a grinder is not the best idea.

Maybe it's not as bad as it sounds?

Don't use a regular plate on your grinder when stuffing. Use the plate that has 2 oblong holes in it.

It looks well made. Kinda wish they'd use the stainless tubes, though.

What kind of casings do you use?
