Not really a question, but picked up a gun I have drooled over since I was a much younger man before straight wall and rifles were introduced. I have absolutely no need for it other than I could never afford earlier in life and always wanted one so now I have it. Came topped with a nikon slughunter scope and few boxes of slugs. Stainless barrel, camo stock, and accu trigger. Guess next season I will need to break it in! =) Now I need to decide if I am adding to the safe or moving something to take room, LOL I am much better at buying guns than I am at selling them.

I had one for a while before the straight wall cartridge came into play. Sold it to a member here and picked up the .450 bushmaster and never looked back.
Shot a lot of deer with the 220. But something about a rifle just seemed better….
Good luck with the 220. What sabots are you shooting with it?

I bought a plain jane, all black 220 off @WoodCoDep a few years back and I absolutely love it. It likes the Hornady SSTs the best, but will shoot Browning BXS slugs pretty well also.

I've been hunting deer with a shotgun for 35 years at this point (hurts to say that) and I've killed deer with 5 or 6 different setups from .410, to 20s and 12s. That 220 is my favorite "one shot, one kill" slug gun. I also built an 1187 in 20 gauge that I will carry when driving. It's my "spray and pray" gun 😂

I’ve been shooting a .350 the past two seasons, but prior to that it was all Savage 220 since I bought it in 2010ish. Killed a pile of deer with it. It’s a great shooting firearm one that’s fun to hunt with. You’re going to enjoy it.

Historically, Remington Accutips in 2 3/4” are the best shooting sabot for the 220. My own personal opinion though is not favorable of the accutips because that green plastic piece often finds its way mixed with meat. I prefer Federal or Barnes copper-solid bullets. The Federal Trophy Coppers are a solid choice.

The gun is zeroed in on federal copper(s) but also came with remington expanders.(both 3") I just picked it up and haven't actually shot it yet. I have a 357 max that I carry a LOT, always in Ohio but even here in Indiana where I can use HPR. I do have a 308 I use in Indiana & NY and a 870 open site with slug barrel that is my pushing gun but for whatever reason this is the one I have always wanted and I grabbed it when I could. Here the beauty is!!!!!

Mined loved the Federal ammo, killed quite a few deer but haven't used it for many years. May have to dust it off and run some ammo though it this summer. If I ever apply for the firearms tag in IL this would be what I would take.
