I firmly believe your broadheads should be sharp enough they scare you. Something I wanted to try with the new VPA 3-blade heads I recently bought was sharpening them using a belt sander. I bought a pack of belts for my little Delta in 600/800/1000 grit. Someone will probably tell me it's dangerous...I had the belt running away from me and wore gloves. If I lose control of the head on the sander it is just going to go into the yard. The VPA's came fairly sharp out of the package (sharper than most), so I lightly ran them on the 600 grit belt. I used Sharpie on the blades to be sure I was evenly sharpening with them flat on the sander. Belts change quick/easy, so I worked the heads through all three belts and then stropped with a 2-sided leather strop.

This was easy, quick, and put a great edge on these heads. I love that highly mirrored, buffed-out edge look after stropping a head. The head I stropped jumped through paper really well. I don't want to touch those blades for any reason, and to me, that's a good thing.

Great job! In my mind if you can't sharpen your heads you're still not a bowhunter!
