Have been busy getting things ready for season, have all my stands up except for 2 ladder stands, will finish them shortly.
Also got some help from Cole so ned to return the favor and help him get some things ready for season
Then can get back to doing other things like shooting the bows and some fishing.
Will be time to start mowing the perimeters of the crp fields on the 15th.
Gotta freshen minerals next weekend.
This fuggin heat sucks.

and from the wheelie boy stakes! good shooting, Tom.

back in the day, some of the firebrands in OSTA got tired of shooting reasonable shots from the regular stakes, so we invented the "challenge stake" mostly long, ridiculously cluttered shots, often both. lots of busted up arrows and big fun. even more fun after a few drinks, and/or especially if you shot with Hoot. :D I just don't seem to have fun like that anymore. fuck, I'm getting old. The group i shoot with are pretty causal and like taking challanging shots when we are shooting trad bows. If we are at a shoot with our compounds we get pretty competitive.

Looking good Brian!

I've been trying to shoot every day. Sometimes only a few arrows, sometimes 50-100 shots. Here lately I've been really trying to focus EVERY shot and make it perfect. Previously, I seemed to be falling into a routine of shooting "just to shoot" and it wasn't making me any better. I was just kinda going through the motions. I have noticed that my results are improving since stepping up my mental game. I've also put more emphasis on back tension in my draw and my release, and have modified my anchor point slightly. So far so good!

That’s great! Last year it was fun to watch you shoot, this year you weren’t as “locked in”. Not sure if I told you that or not. I’m glad to see you taking it more serious again.

It seems to be one of those things... You pretty much have to shoot regularly to maintain some sort of consistency. But the down side to that is it becomes easy to get lazy with the process. It demands much more focus and concentration than shooting a compound that's for sure. With a compound, you can "go through the motions" and keep tennis ball size groups. With a stickbow, that same approach equates to beach ball size groups. 😂
