Shot placement

I have taken the shot with a muzzleloader and a rifle but never would I ever try it with my archery equipment.

I've done the same with a shotgun Chuck, and have had good results but it's apples and oranges with archery equipment/guns..... I'm just glad for him it worked out this time....

I never have and never will with archery equipment.

That being said I have taken two hogs with hard quartering to me shots. Both pigs were under ten yards on the ground, and I was shooting in the mid seventy pound range. Both times, the pig turned from slightly quartering to hard quartering at the release. One of them I hit in the neck, and exited behind the opposite shoulder. That one went all of twenty yards before piling up in sight. The other one I drilled right between the eyes, and dropped her in her tracks. Neither shot was planned, and I can't imagine trying to plan a frontal shot.

Glad it worked out for him but he was very lucky IMO. Congrats to him on a nice buck though! A frontal shot is very risky IMO. Shotgun in my hand, I'd shoot it all day long though.

I've shot a doe one time with a Barnes Expander... 75 yds, from the ground, facing right at me. It hit her like a Mack truck. I'd definitely do it again with a gun. There's just so much more shock trauma that occurs with a gun.

Milo planning on going to a hunt camp for a three days this month. Probably won't get out much more than that! Ole bones can't hack it much any more. Good luck man.

Ted, you going too make it down too Strouds too sit around the campfire with us??????

Im gonna get blasted for this im sure but I have done it and will do it again if the situtation presents itself.. It was on a buck and it was only from 13 yds and I was about 15ft up. All the buck did was rare up on hind legs and flop over to his side thrash around for a minute then died.. Having said that I dont think I would take that shot outside of 25yds and conditions have to be perfect..

25 yards is way to far, way to much time for the deer to react. I don't ever want to take the shot. I honestly probably wouldn't. I hadn't even made up my mind I was going to on my deer. I was just mostly trying to get drawn back so I could shoot as soon as he turned.... Luckily I didn't have to make that decision.
