Plenty of people clean skulls using power washers, is there a difference once weathered? Also, wouldn't bleaching or peroxide be an option? All things I don't know and I'm trying to spark conversations on. If I get my way, nothing will happen, but it ain't looking like that's gonna happen.

After we boil the skull we usually put 40 volume peroxide in a squeeze bottle and coat the skull about three times with that. I agree with Chad on just using Dawn on the rack and scrubbing the fugg out of it.

Dave just boil it to clean it up and let it dry out.
Then use white satin paint,i got that tip from Gern and they look real good.

Different strokes for different folks Giles. Personally I'd soak it in water/peroxide solution for a few weeks and use Dawn to clean off antlers then let dry and that's it. Good luck which ever way you decide.

BTW, a friend of ours found a nice 140+ set that was green and in pretty much the same shape. He snuck them in the dishwasher when his wife was out and let them dry awhile then coated them with linseed oil and rubbed it in and brought them back to life pretty nicely. They were still pretty light but looked more fresh.

Dave...... Taxidermy supply companies sell antler stain... Although a small can from Home Depot is probably cheaper. Just don't go TOO dark...

When I seen this buck on the hoof last year, he had a real white rack to begin with. He looked a lot more lopsided TOO.
