Sleepless night for Gordo

Goodluck with them dogs Gordo! They should be a huge help as well as this nice weather were having. Should be plenty of scent to go on. Please keep us posted.

Trails cold. Never much of one to begin with. Out of places to look.

This is the biggest drop of blood i found all day. Unbelievable. And this was after he ran up over a hill and was on the opposite side walking a shelf. Found a couple similar spots on that one trail, then nothing. Had to catch all shoulder with hardly any penetration?

If he was dead on/near this property i would have found him.

Dont know the lesson to be learned other then dont miss the vitals. Not sure how i did. Fugg

Well that sucks, I was pulling for you. You never found your arrow either? Usually if you don't get good penetration, they will just reach around and pull the arrow out. This happened to my dad when he first started bow hunting, shot a buck in the shoulder (old gun hunting habit) and watched the buck reach around and pull out the arrow.

Stupid deer owes you $6 for an arrow and $13 for a broadhead.

Sorry it didn't work out - maybe you'll get another whack at him.

Sorry to hear this Gordo! Which of your target bucks was it? Did the dogs not show up?

Keep your chin up man, we all have been there before and know how you feel.

Man.. That sucks to hear.. What rig we're you using.. What Broadhead... Keep your head up bud.. Happens to the best..

It was the tall 8 that showed up 2 weeks ago. Second time i saw him on stand. Wasnt positive i would arrow him till i saw him on the hoof.

Shooting a hoyt vectrix at 68 lbs, 29 inch draw, hunter expedition 5575 arrows(i believe), with slicktrick 100mags.

Not a bow geek, but my rig gets it done.

This one comes down to me not making the shot. No excuses. Nothing to blaime. Straight up error on my part.

All the time and effort and work for this result is painful.

Hopefully he shows back up on cam as he was a regular visitor.

I will do another search close to the poi tommorow and see if i can find the arrow for confirmation. Alot of the 9+ hours spent today was grid searching after finding the specs of blood and getting the direction of his travel.

Did you hear a loud Crack when it hit him? I figured if it was a shoulder hit you would have heard it. Sucks man...

Crazy.. You said a touch low and right next to the crease.. If you hit center square on that ball joint. And I mean right in the joint line that's about the only way I could see that sucker stopping so short. That joint is only about 2 inches deep. I mean the heart and bottom of the lungs is but 6 inches behind that... But how he didn't break that arrow running is beyond me especially with 26+ inches of arrow sticking out... Then to find very little blood or actually almost none is strange... Sure you didn't hit him lower in the leg and maybe got leg and lower brisket? Like below the armpit area.. That would hold the arrow and allow it to flop around instead of break when it hit trees. I don't know man. I think he's still alive.. Hopefully one of you kills him later or he shows up on cam so we can see what happened.

That is pretty near identical to my bow, draw weight, length, and arrow combination. Only difference is I switched from the 5575's to a different arrow (within 2 grains though so pretty near the same). Plenty to get the job done. Sorry to hear about it Gordo.

Definitely No loud crack when I hit him, or I would have immediately known. If I get this other bullshiot done i'll be out there shortly looking for my arrow.
