Small engine repair?

I've got a honda generator that hasn't run in around 6 years. Its gummed up and won't start. Left gas in it before storing it. Does anyone know a good small engine repair place near Grove City?

yes I could google this...but I wanted personal experience/recs before loading it up and taking it over.
 
There’s an Amish guy down 62 about 40 minutes from you in Leesburg, left on 771 he’s down a few miles on the right. He does everyone’s work around here. If this is an option for you, let me know and we’ll get a beer.
 
Sounds like a great opportunity to learn how to fix it yourself, if you ask me. Carb issues are relatively easy to resolve and this type of problem is getting more and more common with today's ethanol-blended fuels. You will use this skill again, either on your own equipment or someone else's. I guarantee it.

I agree that I wouldn't bother taking it to someone without giving it a go first. Shouldn't take more than 45 minutes even if you haven't done it before. Pull the carb, remove the bowl from the carb, remove the float from under the bowl (be careful not to alter the pitch of your float when removing) then spray the shit out of your jets with carb cleaner as previously mentioned.

Thanks giles...I may take you up on this. Unfortunately the other yahoos on this thread have challenged my manhood by telling me to fix it myself. This will likely not end well. ;)

Bottom line, regardless if you try it yourself or take it to someone. It’ll get fixed one way or another 😂
Take it to Daves place and he’ll show you how too do it and provide beer as well.... Win, win 👍🏼

Had a similar issue with the in-law's snowblower last winter. Found the model of the carb on Amazon for $13 and it came with the gasket, fuel line, primer line, primer, and a gas filter. Ordered it on Xmas Eve and had it on the 26th. Fifteen minutes later it was running. Stock new carb was $75 and rebuild kit was $38.

A lot of the time it’s not worth tearing into when you can just replace it with a suitable substitute.

Well...Ive managed to mostly disassemble the damn thing. Its gummed up worse than a high school gym locker. Have been unable to remove the fuel line no matter what I do. Solution is going to be vice grips and yank. Followed by a knife and new fuel line if necessary. Also have not been able to get the jet out of its den. May have scratched the crap out of it. Not sure. too much sludge in there. Will have to check again after applying more carb cleaner.

The end solution may well be to just get a new carb.

Best part is I did this after the GF went to bed. I will have to listen to it tomorrow when she bitches about the gas smell in the garage. But at least I will get a good nights sleep first.

Lol....There are benefits involved. She's a retired chef specializing in italian food and seafood (this is why she was picky with the smoke on the sausage). Her kids are absolute sweethearts. And she puts up with me. And yea..Im pretty darn ugly.

Plus...its her house. So she gets to bitch when I stink it up.

It also keeps her out of the garage...which is where I stash my new hunting gear. So...I am dumb, but I am not so dumb.
