HIP survey done. 20 gauge oiled. Probably take the new bucket and leave the backpack at home this year. I have some number 8s and number 6s. Not sure what I'll grab in the morning. Michael won a lottery hunt, so I will be meeting up with him. Hopefully grab a couple of limits early. Guessing I'll grab the 6s, usually do for public land. Reach up and touch them a little better. Might round the day up with some rats. We will see how it goes.

Who else is ready?

I’ll be in a dove field tomorrow morning. Low expectations, after this heat wave we’ve had this week. But I’m looking forward to the tradition of smelling burnt gunpowder on September 1st, nonetheless. Let’s get this hunting season kicked off!
Look for a field near water for sure!

We tried a dove hunt this morning. Pretty slow. Sure doesn’t appear to be many doves in our neighborhood. We did bag a few. Mason killed this collared dove. I’ve never seen one. Apparently quite rare in Ohio but JB said they have shown up over the last ten years or so.
