Snaring Coyotes

Alright you guys got me all jacked up about yotes, just placed my first order of snare's. Can't wait to get started. Thanks for all the good info, I will keep you posted.

I must suck! ...LOL.... Woke to Coyotes barking and yipping all over the field this morning. One was directly down by the road-kill and snares......NOTHING! Anyone know where to buy claymore's that looks like a deer or rabbit's?

lmao I would say this is a thread with Bowhunter57's name on it. That guy is all the time joking around about Claymores. Classic!

I know the feeling! I found a den in a waterway. It is in the middle of wide-open fields. There are only three places I would consider pinch points where I think I have a good chance to snag a yote. Haven't got 'em yet. Gonna head out here in a few to check 'em today. May have to kill the whole family once they move into their new home.

I am starting to think my snares are still TOO bright. I have caught many fox and coons with snares prepped in the baking soda like I do. But I believe the Coyotes are a bit smarter than I have gave credit for. I am going to try the snare dip in brown to see if it makes a difference.

Got another Female Yote today. She looks in the 30-32# range. She was totally caked with mud and when hosing her off, there is something wrong with her belly...Anyone know what this is? I ain't messin' with her..........Doesn't quite look like the Mange I've seen before, but could be.

Ever see a dog with a hot spot? Not sure how this would be a hotspot since I couldn't see her being able to lick there, but maybe similar. I dunno. Fur is pretty well shot though isn't it? Hopefully a couple of them are still furred out a bit.

Most of them are getting scrappy looking. Xbow guy ill talk to my trapping partner tommorow and he should know whats up with it.

Xbow, she has been making a den for her soon to have pups. Notice her tits. She has been going in and out and rubbing her chest while doing so.

Makes sense. Makes it even better that you took her out before she popped out another litter of pups!

Thanks Guys....Makes sense to me....... Fur was pretty crappy anyhow, So no harm in not messing with her. The important part is that she is dead and her pups TOO!

I bought the snare dip from Snare One......Not real impressed with it either..(especially for 18.00 a qt~~Makes 3 qts of dip)..will say it did work, but you have to dip and let dry 4-5 times to get a good color. Will definitely be using some spray paint in light brown camo from now on.

I'd like to touch on something I said previously. I had bragged on PDK Snares that I purchased near my house. This was due to their appearance and past quality. In the past I purchased snares for fox, coon and beaver. I have had 4 Coyotes get away with snares due to the end stops pulling off. There was coyote fur and tracks everywhere, so I know it was not a larger animal. Two of the Coyotes had the biggest tracks I have ever seen....Which is a HUGE disappointment! When I called him about other products, I felt rushed on the phone. And, the email I sent about the end stops coming off has not been answered in about a week. I will personally never buy anything from PDK Snares Again!

xbowguy....i am new to the game but the snare shop gets my vote.,.VERY quick shipping and very appreciative of your business. I was going to invite them over here so look them up. I will be ordering more very soon.

I agree with The Snare Shop idea. I've bought from them in the past and will again from now on. To pay the shipping is a small price compared to the frustration of loosing an animal due to poor quality. After the second snare let-loose, we were thinking of re-crimping all the ends with a pair of vicegrips ~~ Then 2 more let loose with a quickness...... 4 end stop failures, it's definately the snares.

Here's the Big Male we got in Carroll tonight. My buddy was pulling up snares and found this one with a necklace around his neck and front leg TOO. Was guessed at around 40 #
