Something cool to see

This is a first for me as I don’t remember ever seeing one before. Though I’d post it up and see if anyone knows what kind of bird it is.
Landed on the tree by me initially like a wood pecker would of then hopped onto a branch. Pretty cool looking little fella

Scarlet Tanager

I’ve had 4 conversations about this bird today. No BS, true story. None of us have ever seen it before. General consensus has come up with this bird being a Scarlet Tanager. I haven’t looked up anything beyond a google pic.

Pretty dang cool. Can't say I've ever seen one and I run a feeder year round. I looked them up and it said they prefer large tracts of wooded land and do not prefer fragmented habitat so that may be why.

Their hard to see cause they mostly live and feed in the high canopy. try to spot one in 3 or 4 weeks. When I lived out of town , There was a pair that nest in an big oak just out of the yard,rarely could catch a glimpse of them after May.

After thought of that is maybe it’s so the females can see them against the ground and really show them colors.
