I was looking over my 3rd grade sons homework tonight . They have a suprising amount of it actually .
The one thing they have is reading comprehension . They read a short passage containing 3 or 4 paragraph and answer questions about it .
Tonight's was about being a vegetarian .

To clarify as well , it's not like anyone is pushing a agenda . Yesterday's was about some sort of fire festival on the east coast and tomorrows is about a boy fishing in a Kayak fishing tournament

Haha that's great. My son is in 2nd grade and his teacher gave him a little shit after he told his friends at school that I shot a deer. She told him that school isn't the place for that kind of talk. Well about two weeks ago he had to do a project and he needed pictures of days he made memories with his family. Five of the seven pictures were of him and myself hunting and with animals we have killed. The teacher wasn't to happy about that either and called my wife. My wife proceeded to tell the teacher that how we raise our kids is none of her damn business and that her only job is to teach the students how to read write and do math not indoctrinate our kids on her fucked up ideals and hung up the phone. God I love my wife when she gets mad at someone besides me.

Nice . I have no complaints about my son's school . It's a rural school and they conveniently always have opening of deer gun off , as well as several days during fair week for kids to be there to care for their 4h animals . I didn't feel like he was making a fight the power answer .

But I feel proud of his answer . Much like this fall when I asked him if he could shoot between two trees and kill a deer . He aimed for a few seconds and decided he couldn't make a good shot and should wait . I know what I would have done at 9 years old . I was more proud of him for choosing not to shoot , than I was of him making a perfect shot 20 seconds later and killing the deer . I'm very proud of him , as I'm sure all other parents of of their kids .

That's why I love my kids school. They still do pledge of allegiance, have a bible teacher for those who want to, and a good portion of the faculty are locals who hunt or let us hunt their land.

That is great stuff Carpn and Nate. Wait until your kid is looking at colleges. I'm cringing when my daughter mentions certain schools. Hope her values stay strong and she can influence others. Carp's son made a legitimate point. Sounds like a personal issue his teacher has. Lol
