Bear pics in Ohio would be a trip. Neat to know their around but not in your personal hunting area.
From my experiences black bears are a complete PIA. They are like having a puppy around. They are very curious and like to check things out with their mouth.
I've shot 3 of them in the face from less than 10'! They don't get the clue to go away like brown bears. I'd gladly take brown bears over black bears.

We have a six footer roaming around down in Vinton county , he shows up on trail cam once in a while. Just horny looking around for s girl!

I agree with Giles. They're a pain in the ass. We had one in Vinton county that would tear up any feeder or cam he found. Down in WV at my buddies place one came up in his yard and ate his rabbit dog.
Dug this oldie up to add this pic. Hit near Leith Run Campground, right near Frontier High School, in Washington County yesterday. Was most certainly living in the Wayne right near where we duck hunt on occasion.
I hope this question fits in this thread: With a healthy Pennsylvania population as well as WV (I think), why haven't more bears made their way to Ohio? I am torn on the desire to hunt bears, the thought of the death moan wigs me out. We have a few on the farm I hunt in PA; plenty of trail cam pics, but I have yet to see one in person. For ~$40 I could have a NR Bear tag. I just don't know what I would do if I shot one. I have no idea how to process one like I do a deer, and I am guessing that processor fee would get pretty hefty.
Like any game, it needs hunted to keep it in check. Bears are giant raccoons. For $40 I would buy the tag just in case.
Did you know how to process your first deer? Everything new is only new the first time. In today's world, the information is at your fingertips. If you are asking how to dress a bear out, start a thread and a few of us will comment.
Of all things to hit in Ohio... a friggin bear! I could only imagine getting that call from my wife.
This will only become more common. I see a limited draw bear permit being a thing in Ohio by the end of this decade.
