Spelling vs pronuncication

I also I find it funny how three totally different words with different meanings and spelled differently but are pronounced the same such as, rain, rein and reign.

Or exactly the same with vastly different meaning.

He is present to get his present.
The soldier had to desert to get his desert in the hot desert.
I thought desert (de-zert) to get his dessert (also de-zert) had two "s"? Back to one "s" for in the desert (des-ert).

I'm doing it Sarge style now. Spelling checks here. Never mind the actual grammar. Or is it grammer? Might have to go to the principal as a matter of principle. 🤣
