I hunt there and OHLAP where baiting is not allowed which is no big deal because of the fact they are large pieces of land.

anyone who argues bait and food plot are the same are always guys who dump corn. 100 % the case in my experience.

It is legal. Go for if you need it. I have done it but have chosen not to for several years.

I am beginning to believe that corn piles and predators are an issue. Bobcats and coyotes have figured out a corn pile is a good place to ambush prey. But on a third acre for plot, it’s not so effective the predator to sit and wait.

Corn piles also affect turkey behavior far more than a plot of turnips will. Corn piles and turkey decline may be related. There are differences but you keep doing you.

I have had weather completely destroy my hopes of a plot. Drought never stopped a corn pile.

Food plots are a lot of hard work may not even be successful from year to year. That being said they are very rewarding and satisfying to do even if you don't harvest a animal there! Just watching it grow from your hard work is a lot of fun! If it has any size to it at all you do a lot more animal watching than shooting if you are using archery equipment. A golden scrape brings the animal right to the spot you choose in your determined shooting range. Very effective for filling the freezer with modern archery equipment. My favorite way to hunt has always been scrape hunting the last week of October and first week of November. I consider this bait hunting it's just put out by the deer themselves.
