Heard 3 different gobblers going off while breaking the dog this morning.

Kids wanted to build a blind so we sat there this morning. Everything was far off. About 8, one started working in but hung up. Daughter told me we should run and gun but I didn’t like my odds with the two of them lol. Managed to fire him up and he came in on a string. They were on fire this morning and little sis got her first Turkey. He put on a show and attacked the Jake decoy. I think my turkey shooting days are behind me lol.

Buddy and a couple his buddies took his daughter out this morning. They’d set up a blind earlier and got set up early. She was sleeping by daylight. He woke her up, 6 minutes later she pulled the trigger on a good one.
She got her first deer last fall, now her first turkey. Too say she’s hooked is an understatement….

Congrats to the youngsters getting it done! I spent the weekend in Kentucky on a couple pieces of public. Tough sledding on Saturday with minimal gobbling on the roost and total silence after fly down. I couldn’t strike a bird all day and I tore up the boot leather. Sunday was a bit better with more gobbling early but once again they shut up after fly down. I only struck one the rest of the day and he only gave me a courtesy gobble and wasn’t in the mood to play. I think they’re henned up pretty good right now and I couldn’t pry any of them away. I got some good intel as far as roost locations and sign for the next go around. It was a great weekend nonetheless and great to be back out chasing critters. I’ll give it another go this weekend and see what happens.

My pal, Casey and I ran down to Kentucky. We weren’t there to mess around with henned up gobblers. We were there to shoot a couple “easy” birds.
We are going back tomorrow. Hopefully a repeat of today but the odds are not in our favor.
