Successful mud puppy release and some real deal owl hooting, but quiet here thus far. Feels like a July morning more than it does a turkey opener!

Had to bail for my annual trash cleanup at our local WMA. Heard 2 gobbles total. First one was on the opposite end of the farm from where I started. I cut the distance in half in a few minutes, then he gobbled again and he'd already pitched and went straight away from me so that we weren't any closer than we started. Never heard a thing after that. I'll be back tomorrow.

Raining buckets here with straight line winds over 45 m.p.h. 
I'd imagine the turkeys got blown off of their roosts and are sitting tight on the ground for a while. 
The radar shows that was the first batch of storms and it looks like another batch approaching. Tomorrow's weather will be better.

From neighbor Cliff... can't hunt this season, heading home from mom's service and home overhaul.
I feel like "Stessless" today! At first light I had some Toms answering me. Then everything went quiet. After about 45 minutes 2 hens fed into the food plot. About 10 minutes later a flock of Toms and Jakes came in on a dead run. The most mature Tom attacked my Jake decoy. He moved at my first shot and I missed him clean . I got another arrow on my string and waited for them to settle down. This time he was in full strut and the shot was good. Short but fun season."

Well coopers games got canceled today and he begged me to take him today. I had some running around to do so about 10:30 he talked me into going. I bought our license drove to my brothers place to get the 410. Made a loop around the block and seen a hen going into where we could hunt. I told cooper thats a good sign as we parked and on the walk back to the blind I see 4 red heads going away from us, we stopped and let them get to the woods and we eased into the blind. I hit a call and a Tom fired up, then the 4 jakes came back out of the woods where they went in and Cooper rolled one at 25 yards. He's pumped up. I had to tell him it rarley ever happens like that so dont get use to it.
