Spring Turkey 2025

Congrats Chad and Cooper! Sloooow day yesterday. Not a single gobble all day. I talked to the WO (who was waiting at my vehicle to check me) and he said everyone that he checked told him the same thing. And this is an area that’s got really good numbers. Oh well, turkeys doing turkey things
I had the least exciting hunt I’ve had in a very long time yesterday. I was hunting with my bow from a tent. Sat a great spot until noon. Saw a couple hens early. And that was it. Not a single gobble all day. That’s not the days I look forward to.

Happy Easter! The little girl slept in this morning and learned one of those hunting lessons 😁 soft called him in at 8:30. Was a pretty classic hunt couldn't have went better except I wish Sydney would have came along. Things happen for a reason I guess 🦃

Between school, work and clinicals I knew my turkey time was gonna be limited this year. Possibly my shortest season ever with about 2 hours total hunting time. Heard some gobbles, ended up calling in a pair of pissed off hens. They hung around me long enough for a longbeard to come check things out. He popped out in the field and I think he hated my 1/4 strut Jake decoy, so he dipped back into the thick stuff. Got to watch/listen to him spit and drum for 30 minutes just inside the timber edge. It was fun to watch. The pair of hens were dusting themselves to my right and he was 45 yards to my left. I think he got fed up with neither the hens nor my decoys giving him the attention he wanted so he finally popped out and gave me a shot at 30 yards. Turned him into a pile in quick order, tag filled just before 9. I was willing to shoot a Jake this year and am more than happy with an 11” beard and 1 1/8” spurs.

I just got back from 3 days in southern Ohio with not much signal
I had a good couple days!!
I hunted Saturday by myself and killed a nice tom
Sunday a friend came down and we managed a bird for him also
First bird with the 20 gauge and friend decided to use the 20 also
Strange shooting turkeys with 9 shot
Congratulations to all the successful hunters
Chad that is a monster!! Will Mallory mount it?
