Whats the plastic bag trick you two wise men speak off? :smiley_chinrub:

Dan was saying how difficult it was to skin the tree rats. I simply suggested that if he was to take a plastic bag along that he could skin them while continuing to hunting and would find it much easier :D.

With that being said..It is time to go knock a few out of the trees lol :D.

That's a good idea.... probably much easier to do when they're still fresh and haven't sat in a game bag all day.

The .22 is screaming to get out of the case. Been a few years since I've chased squirrels, but maybe this week it's time to get back out.

This is my first year hunting squirrels,,,all three I've gotten so far have been males with big screamin' woodies like this guy - is that the norm?

Another question - what's the ratio of male/female squirrels you guys harvest?

For me it's about 50/50. Some days I might kill 4 bucks and 2 does, the very next day it could be 4 does and 2 bucks....I don't think there is any real correlation to it.

Our Squirrels in VC this year are nonexistent. I went out for a couple hours and didn't see or hear a single one.. The kids down there have hunted hard since opening and have only shot one or two. I think it has to do with absolutely no mast crop last fall and the harsh January / February weather. IMO most of them didn't make it. Oh well, they'll be back in a year or so.
