Star Link

We got a Tmobile 5G hotspot a few years ago and it has been fantastic. We get a very good deal by bundling our cellular service with our internet. We cut all the cables and could not be happier. Wi-fi speeds are perfectly fine and we are streaming everything.

I have DSL but it is slow and not terribly dependable
So I have been thinking about star link the monthly cost is about the same as my current supplier.
Why do you say if I have other options I should look at them?
Are you not happy with star link?
I'm happy with it BUT.

It's more expensive than most DSL, cable, fiber optic, connections and isn't as good for some applications as the other options.

It doesn't have the option for a static IP

Depending on how your signal gets routed to what land station will depend on where streaming services think you're located. This can be an issue for trying to get Buckeye games or local stations. There are ways to assist with this however.

It's satellite, so really crappy rain and snow does impact it. Usually if it's that bad outside we aren't out in it and to find your internet doesn't work is annoying.

It's fairly simple to set up, I've done it twice with no issues but yes the lack of a phone number to call for service can be a problem.

The base router in the Gen1 kinda sucks to be honest. I strongly urge you to look at a different router (i use an Omada mesh network over my entire 20+ acres) depending on your needs.
