Steve eskers killed another big one.

Two fine deer for sure. I don't care who shot them or what they shot them with so long as it was legal and ethical. Just saying, outstanding deer. Wouldn't mind having this access once in my life, but I won't be jealous. A 140" deer is a darn big deer in my parts. If I earn my 130-140" buck i am certain I will have the same sense of satisfaction (and maybe even more than) the Esker boys do. Congrats to your friend Rutin.

Really dude? There are more of us here than you probably realize.

Just asking a simple question. I'm not bashing anyone the uses a
crossbow just not for me. It just seems like not to many high profile dudes use a crossbow

I started using one last year because of an injury but really enjoy it.So let me ask you.If something happens to you where you cant shoot your compound or stick bow anymore are you going to stop hunting.I would bet the odds would be you would be shooting a crossbow lickity split.Buddy this is'nt the place to be knocking someone on their choice of weapon. But hey, their is another forum you can go visit for that.

Damn dude your really jumping to conclusions! If I was disabled and could not draw my bow, then yes I would switch to a crossbow. I could care less what kills the deer as long as it's legal.

Also consider that Excaliber is giving him some serious coin to be his partner in "crime". I support people's right to use whatever weapon is legal, but I imagine you and I are of like thinking in that if you can use a compound, why shoot a crossbow? But that's neither here nor there. I'm sure his paycheck from Excaliber influences his decision as much as anything.

Both are monsters.. No response biglslam? I don't think you will win that battle here....

I'm sorry, I've been working and can't spend all day on the computer. Why is it that when I ask why he uses a crossbow some of you start being a bunch of hard asses and assume I don't like Xbows? I prefer not to hunt with one because I think it's more of a challenge with my Mathews. I didn't know if the guy had a disability or just likes to shoot a crossbow. If I were to be disabled or when I become an old bastard and can't draw my bow then I will use one. To each his own and all I was doing was asking a simple question, damn. Now I'm going to go kill a deer in my hula skirtrotflmao

See, I did not know that or anything about this dude for that matter. That's why I asked. BAM problem solved!

I think the reason is because in Ohio there has been a great deal of people right down to the Ohio Bowhunters Association who have issues with people using crossbows. Often they look at x-bows as being inferior to their compound. It happens a lot actually. Trad guys think they're better than compound shooters, and compound shooters think they're better than crossbow shooters. We've seen it a million times on other forums. Here however we're all equal as long as its legal. To most here it's not even a question of why anyone shoots a crossbow, it's legal and doesn't make it any less of an awesome buck. To question it makes it seem like you thought it was. I don't think they were intentionally being too hard on you. Just sharing their opinion of why it doesn't matter to them and wondering why it did to you. We've seen some pretty good forums turn to crap over this very subject. Constant x-bow bashing, compound bashing, even bow bashing by gun only guys. Lol. It gets old and can really ruin the community feel of a place. Perhaps thats why everyone is quick to jump in at the first hint of a issue to preserve the atmosphere of acceptance. As for the hula skirt kill I HOPE you get that on video. I would just a gut laughing.

Very well said.No bad intentions at all.Just sooo tired of all the other forums bashing crossbow hunters and that one of the many reasons why i just stick with TOO.And hey this crossbow hunting is still pretty new TOO me.Shot a compound bow for 36 yr's and do miss it but will still be out hunting. And yes i cant wait TOO see the hula skirt.

yes, a good gang tackling always preserves the pleasant atmosphere. rotflmao

still, helluva deer. urban deer hunting isn't for me. I'd rather kill smaller bucks in a place where I don't have to listen to traffic while I'm hunting. peace, quite and a lithe stick.

You aren't from WV are ya?

The bad thing is, there are less and less places you can't hear traffic while hunting. That's why I would love to go out West and hunt once....

That's why I've challenged myself to hunt with ear plugs. It really heightens your senses, I can smell a deer fart from a mile away.
