Steve eskers killed another big one.

yes, a good gang tackling always preserves the pleasant atmosphere. rotflmao

still, helluva deer. urban deer hunting isn't for me. I'd rather kill smaller bucks in a place where I don't have to listen to traffic while I'm hunting. peace, quite and a lithe stick.

Ha. I knew you be along shortly. Jamie, do you have an alert set for when i mention the OBA. Lmao.

The bad thing is, there are less and less places you can't hear traffic while hunting. That's why I would love to go out West and hunt once....

My buddy hunts the UP for two weeks every year. He says you can hear quiet up there.

I dropped out of the OBA a few years ago. could care less about it. seriously.

does smelling a deer fart help you somehow as a hunter? I wonder if Steve Eskers wears earplugs?

I would assume so. You would know you were downwind of a deer at least, and most likely, what he ate last night...

I know. Just ribbing you man. Lol.

Not sure about earplugs. But where they're hunting you'd have to be a real moron not to shoot a booner every year. It's about as easy as picking up a fattie on 25 cent wing night at the bar. You know they'll be there. You just have to be there too.

I'll take your word for it. I've never picked up a fattie. :smiley_coolpeace:

we really should find out about the earplugs. :D

few deer reach that size. they don't get that big by being stupid, but that game is all about gaining the access. managing to get a shot at that deer is as much about PR work as it is whitetail savvy, probably more. money talks. just sayin'. I'm not knocking the guy, only pointing out the realities of this sort of deer hunting, and that if that is what I had to do to kill a buck like that, I'd take up walleye fishing and get another Cur. I don't think I could enjoy hunting in that kind of situation.

It's easier than you think when you're a real-estate agent in the big city.

I don't have an ounce of jealousy towards the "town hunters", perhaps because I haven't a clue how good it really is. From my vantage, however, it does seem like it would take a little of the luster out of the thing to park in a subdivision. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I'll never know it. I'm not ambitious enough to put forth the effort to gain access to those areas. I do respect folks like that though... there has to be some homework that goes into finding those big suckers.

Dang, that's a pretty nice deer.

Corn, cameras and an in. For some the "in" is a check. For others it is something else (deals on trucks, RE fees, etc...)

Well, let's face it .... with all the sub divisions in the townships surrounding the cities, big deer are going to be there. We all know that of course, and it certainly is a total different atmosphere than what we would traditionaly hope for. I call it " new age " deer hunting. I don't like it, but that's just the way it is. With that comes a different type if deer. One that is more tolerent of all the noise, people, dogs & all that shit. Yet they keep their senses about that which makes them all the more a remarkable animal. I'll never wanna be set in that inviorment. You can give me the deep woods, the sound of a bluejay getting pissy about something off in the distance & of course, the solitude anytime.

Well, the proof is in the pudding. The Eskers have a gene pool that produces a whopper or two every year. They will always have a monster or two, three or more, lurking around. Then top it off, with deer that are custom to being around people. Then to have this land all to yourself? Lol.
More power to him! He's one very fortunate hunter! Adam Hayes is another one TOO!

I hunt both, most of my personal properties are urban areas, I believe the deer are very wise in these areas because of the human scent being around them so much as in how recent or fresh the scent might be, plus one downfall to these types of areas are noise, traffic, kids, dogs, lawnmowers etc. Makes it real hard to know if something is creeping up on ya

Sounds like you need a deer view mirror and ear plugs!

Hahahahaha I'm good, I've adapted to hunting these areas, when I'm in the big woods I hear stuff way off

I can see why!
