No..... Not a deer.... Decided to tackle changing out the spark plugs and coil packs today on my 2006 Ford F150 5.4 Triton.... As some know this can turn into a nightmare and a half with seized plugs breaking off.... After some cursing and busted knuckles, I got them all out without breaking a single plug.... Having a cold brew or two then I'll go throw in the new plugs and coil packs.... Maybe do the brakes this weekend....

Nice Rich! I have the same year and model and it has 205K on it. Poor thing has been abused but maintained regularly for most part. Still runs good but going to have neighbor(mechanic) help me put in a new power steering pump, rack and pinion and serpentine belt this week. I hope I can get it running again before strouds or else I’m driving our 07 Edge. Lol
How many miles you got on your truck?

Ric... Mileage is around 150,000.... Battery is out so can't be exact... Truck has no rust and runs pretty good... I had a slight miss and have had a shop replace a single plug and coil pack before, but shortly after I got another miss... So I decided to swap them all out... A few were not budging but then gave way after we had a little talk.... I don't need a new truck to sit outside and birds shit on it, so as long as this one's running, I'll keep it chugging along.... Not spending $60,000.00 on a truck.....

I’ve had a few misses as well and eventually had shop replace them all. Luckily they got them all out without none breaking which I heard could add time to labor cost. I’d love to also get a newer truck but I’m like you on paying that much for something I actually use to haul stuff and beat around some. If I ever do make the jump I’m still planning on keep my old one for more abuse. Lol

Mine were changed several years ago by Ford.... At least they said they changed ALL of them.... Looking at the plugs I took out I kinda wonder.... Back then it cost me $900.00.... Got some back as there was a law suit against Ford....

Yep….sold both of my F150s before it was time to do that LOL

I had a 1990 Ford F-150 (worst truck I’ve ever owned) and while changing the oil, as I placed the tool on the oil filter to remove it, I got as far as 1/4 turn and the filter crushed. The more I turned, the more it crushed. I called my father for advise (he was a mechanic) and he told me to drive a screw driver through the filter with a hammer, then use the screwdriver to turn it. I said….(now get ready because it was pretty stupid) “but I don’t want to break it dad”. He started laughing and said “you can’t break broke”. I did it. It worked. I was young and dumb.😂

The old screw driver through the filter... Used that method many times... Get a nice oil bath while doing it...
