Thoughts on a GMC Terrain? Not sure how much room you need but they are a nice ride, have 3 rows and can get 20+ in the city.

Here is our 3rd row with cargo room.

That is sharp!

Diesel excursion? Could double as a work vehicle for tax purposes. Also a highlander hybrid here. 24 mpg and 155k miles. Runs like a top. Absolutely embarrassed a young kid in a new mustang with it...

Diesel Excursion? I spend enough on fuel and brakes with her Envoy. I don't need something heavier to stop. Lol

Barring any hiccups, it looks like we are going to end up with an Explorer. Test drove one tonight. They look good. Ride good. The price seems fair.

The more I look, the more it seems these are all pretty darn close to being the same. Ford, Chevy, Honda. . . Doesn't matter. If they weigh close, seat the same amount, and have similar options- they probably get similar mileage, and are priced in the same ball park.

Not sure about the older models, but we love our Durango. Does better on gas than my RAM. Great ride, lots of features.

Phil, Kia has a BOGO sale going on. Buy their SUV get the car free. Not sure if you have any upcoming drivers.
Haha. I can't do it. Kia is not Honda or Toyota in my eyes. I have heard they have come a long way though.

My wife leases and enjoys getting her new car often..here is her track record for kid haulers.....Equinox, CRV, CRV, Pilot, Pilot, Odyssey....now that the kids are getting bigger she wants a CRV next.

We have had the Durango in 06 and 2012 versions and both I highly recommend. The 06 had a rust issue under the gas fill but that is all and I worked it hard. 22mpg on trips, 18.5 everyday and 16 in town. All with still having Hemi power. Nothing other than basic maintenance on any of them even the 06 that has 170k on it now (different owner that bought it).

With the new style Durango think Grand Cherokee with third row.

We have only had ours about a year, but my wife drives at least 20K/yr. For a large vehicle with plenty of power, it gets very reasonable MPG. Overall, we have had great "luck" with our Dodge/Ram purchases. Wife had an 03' Durango, then a Pacifica, Journey, and back to the Durango. All served us well with minimal mechanical issues.

Wife and I started looking at Explorers last summer. The Jeep is now approaching 204K. Little bit by little bit things are starting to break. It will just be easier my beater vehicle for hunting and such.

I'm looking at the same range you are Phil. 2011-2014, under 100k and not more than 15k on price.
