Test run on the canoe today.

Awesome rig Chad! I'm especially impressed by the hillbilly motor mount! lol I'm in the market for a canoe also. I've been keeping my eye on the classifieds but I think I might just end up buying new. It's hard to find a used one exactly like i want. I'm looking for something in the 14-16' range with a flat back.

Thanks guys. The half ass hillbilly motor mount was good enough for the test run but I'm going to need something better. So my buddy that gave me the canoe is going to make me one at work. He's in the sheet metal Union so he has access to the materials. It's just going to be a piece of aluminum or steel that will have slots in each side so I can secure it with some clamps that will fit under the lip of the canoe, it will still have a piece of wood for the trolling motor to mount on.

I need a watercraft! Looks like fun buddy.
Put a trolling motor on your canoe! I also need to get a deep cycle battery, I think if I got a deep cycle I could probably canoe down river a few miles and have enough battery to push me back up. The trolling motor makes it nice because I don't have to fugg around with parking a vehicle at the end of the trip, I just motor boat my ass back to where I started lol.

Yep. Do your research on Batteries. There are great options out there cheap. If you know anyone in salvage yards, you can get some nice batteries for nothing. I carry 2 deep cylces on my 16' lonestar. I bought a duralast for $140 and bought this off brand one from a buddy for $20 who got it in a wrecked pickup and it last's twice as long as the Duralast. No need for a lot of CCA's. Pay attention to reserve capacity since you wont be using it to start a motor

I have (2) 12 volt batteries. 1 has never been used and the other was used for a trolling motor in my old Jon boat. You can have them, I have no use for them.

Damn, that's a nice gesture Dustin.... That'll make it happen Chad... You can rotate them and go for weeks on end....
