Thanksgiving 2020

As we approach a huge change in times we approach my favorite holiday. This year it just doesn't feel the same. Because of my job and my wife's job, we aren't welcome around my dad this year. I know we aren't the only one that are making tough choices this year. As a family, we have made this choice and are trying to make the best of it. If any of you have no place to go, my door is open.

Kind of a shame that people are scared to spend time with others right now. Even more worried to talk about it in fear of being shamed for spending time with others.

This year I am thankful to have a solid group of friends that feel more like family.

Thanks Dave.... I'll stop over around 4 for a beer...
Yes Thanksgiving always was a big holiday in my family.... Living in Western Pa. all the hunters in the family would invade our house for approx. a week... Comming from all over... God Bless my Mom for putting up with this large influx of people in her home... Thanksgiving was a traditional day to hunt small game when rabbits and long tailed roosters were everywhere... Damn cleaned alot of game that day... Followed up by a very large dinner... Back at the small game Fri. and Sat. Back then you could hunt anywhere with landowners welcoming you with open arms...The following Mon. was opening of deer season in Pa... So the Sun. before we'd hike to the top of Laurel Mnt. and scout... By Thurs. everyone would start to go home with many good memories to be shared down the road... Damn those were the good old days.... So here's wishing each and everyone and their families a MEMORABLE THANKSGIVING...

Definitely my favorite long weekend of the year! We aren't going anywhere with all of us mending up from being sick and a lot of people in their 60s in my family doesn't want to risk anything. My mother and aunts are cooking food for people to pick up just so they can cook for folks. I'll be butchering my daughters deer tomorrow due to today's temps creeping up. So some extra treats will be made. I get to continue the quest of freezer filling time of itd ever stop raining. It will surly be a different year to say the least. Should be a fun one though. Hopefully the weather cooperates.

Happy thanksgiving to you, Dave and everyone else on here.

My family is doing everything they can to make this TDay just like every other one. We're all still getting together and we're all still going to drink and eat and collapse in the recliners this afternoon.

I have no intention of spending this holiday in fear and I won't be shamed or held hostage by busybody government officials who claim to have the right to tell me how many people I can associate with on any given day. This thanksgiving I am thankful for my freedom and the common sense to pursue that freedom.

Have a great day everyone!

If it weren't for the fact that my mother is severely immunocompromised, my MIL has diabetes, and my FIL has COPD and takes care of his 91-year old father, we'd try to do things traditionally. We're being accommodating of the circumstances today so we can have more Thanksgivings with our family in the future and hopefully they'll be normal ones.

Lots of doom and gloom in 2020, but we all have a lot to be thankful for, especially this place and all you guys that make it a home away from home. I appreciate all of you and hope today is as enjoyable as it can be in light of the circumstances.
