I’m not there yet, but I set the camper up last Sunday so the wife and kids could enjoy a few days camping. I’ll join from work when I can!

Kody took the wheel in place of dad and put his fire building skills to use so they can cook dinner in a little bit. The wife just sent me this.

Take the ol girl in tomorrow at 9:30am for an inspection with the dealership for the full speed blowout repair. First trip in season 5 on the original D range tires. I really am leaning towards I picked up something or hit something based on looking at things the last two weeks each day. Either way, it is what it is but I feel confident with the 5yr max mark for replacement on trailer tires still.

The insurance adjuster was out here next day after the claim was made, if the dealership can get parts easily and has a few hour gap this could work out pretty slick.

If not and it's July (most likely scenario, almost guarantee it), then it's getting tin snipped and sealed up till then some how some way.

Damn buddy. I didn't realize it ripped out so much underneath the camper. I never bent down and looked under it so I thought it just bent up the outside metal. You had one hall of a blowout.

From my experience, if you had one blow out, you’d better change all the tires as the others aren’t far behind. How do I know this? Well towed my camper home from the hunting property, made it about 60 miles then wham.....a blow out. No problem replace w spare. Another 60 miles and boom, this time the other side and it rips the floor out and wheel well is jammed down on the flat.

All this and the tires looked brand new. Luckily a nice guy that lived close offered me to pull it into his shop in his yard and had tools so I could work on it. It’s Sunday and only thing that was open was Walmart. 4 tires later and I was back on the road w my boys that were 9 and 11.

Was a good visit, no timing known until dealer and insurance get it all squared away. I'm home trimming metal and putting in foam board then sealing it up to keep water off it. Main heater duct is closed off, so debris doesn't blow in. Got some HD fabric tape from them for the seams .

No doubt we we're lucky given the location, speed, traffic, etc. I'm glad we were able to finish the trip with everyone and make it home back safetly. New E range tires on order 😁

After paint Creek I went back in and made a better patch on my soft spot. At this point in my campers age and years of being road hard and put away wet. I’m far beyond the days of ripping up and rebuilding it. I did dress it up nice with 60cent sticky squares. $45 for another year or two beats the hell out of a payment.

Nothing but the best Clark 😉

Nice work on that repair...sorry to hear about what happened. I’m looking forward to a getaway this weekend. We’ e been going to a local Jellystone annually for Memorial Day as a nice and easy start to the season. Not my favorite, but kids love it and the fireworks are amazing. Also, just moved out of our house and are in a rental while a home is put up in our property...so it will be nice to get away from this populated apartment complex.

That's a nice touch stache! I appreciated the conversation on the amount of miles on both the tires and camper. Lots of good memories with that rig.

Enjoy Qback, looks like some good weather this weekend. We are in the same scenario as you guys, just a few steps prior. Gonna build on our property but figuring out how to avoid doing a short term/rental is becoming a pain lol!

You nailed in about avoiding the rental. For me, even though our local market is pretty hot, I know myself well enough to know that I would not sleep knowing I was building without my house sold. Some people that works, but I’m pretty fiscally conservative and risk averse. So, I’ll lose money on the short term rental to buy the peace of mind.

I will also appreciate camping, several trips this year including Memorial Day, 4-ish days at Sleeping Bear Dunes, and road trip to shenandoah-DC-Assateague Island!
