I have not found one yet that has a steel wheel well that would be able to handle a blowout. They go for light weight and low cost when building, nothing else lol.

Don't let it discourage ya Brock, find one, drop it and have fun fishing! This was our 3rd one and we will have another after building, chit just happens.
Let’s also consider that this happened at highway speed. Tire vs plywood....

35 foot camper with a slide out... how big of an issue will this be to pull with my half ton F 150? I’d be pulling it to the lake and leaving it presumably until I’m done with it... long term.

What's the year make and model? Need some weights and more info. Just like a boat, if u are getting a good deal on it then it prolly had water damage at some point and they become sponges adding to the weight.

Honestly have no idea what year it is... divorce sale. I just spoke with the woman that is selling it. She claimed no water damage. By the pics, it looks nic enough for what I have in mind. :)

I don’t know. It’s listed only as Conquest Gulfstream only.
She has it listed for 6200 but from talking with her I’d suspect she will take far less.
A buddy clued me in about a 5th wheel that’s at Fenwick marina for sale now. Apparently one of his friends owns it and bought a newer camper. It’s a 5th wheel, supposedly everything works and it does leak. He wants 3k for it. That would be handy since it’s already at the lake and is dirt cheap.

I wouldn’t drag a bumper pull that far with your truck. We have similar towing capabilities and I refuse to tow mine that far. Just doesn’t seem safe to me. No doubt people do it all the time, just isn’t for me.

But you probably wouldn’t drag a bucket w 100k lbs of wet mulch out of the mountains of WVA either... :). It was perfect safe, really. I still had 15 tires when I got back to Ohio.

Thanks for the help fellas.
Mason and I drove up today to look at a camper that I thought would be fine for our purposes. It was nice enough for the age. It’s a 2001. Unfortunately, I found no place that had seasonal sites available. I apparently got the wrong impression as I thought there was a space in Fenwick where it was located. Nope. The other camps I checked require a camper under ten years old to even be put on the waiting list.
No big deal, I don’t have the time to be up there much for the next couple years anyway. And it was fun running around up there today anyway.

Anyone been out? I’m excited To get it out of the driveway again soon. This guy explains perfectly why I haven’t taken mine out. Sure the white truck will pull it...pulling it and power isn’t what concerns me.

Great video except I didn't catch where he speaks to legalities of the weights.

Payload is not an enforceable #, but GVWR along with GCWR most certainly are. Same with both GAWR's. You get into an accident or even get pulled over and they have you step on the scale, look out!

It just isn't worth is fellas. I have no problem with ppl writing their own death warrants but don't include your family or other folks on the road. You are essentially driving a 15,000lb+ missle with your typical 1/2 ton and lightweight RV....

Last of the tent camping neccesities arrive this week from Amazon. I spent the night with the oldest 2 in the new tent over the weekend and our first family trip is in 2 wks.

I'm dying a slow death with no camping since the Spring TOO outing😟

He was careful with his words. Along with legalities comes insurance and blame. I wouldn’t want to pay for my truck and camper...and if someone got hurt or worse. Not worth it. Know your equipment gentlemen.
