The argument still stands though. The reality is we have a team in the playoffs who didn't just lose their conference, but didn't even make it to the game championship game .

Something is obviously wrong when teams sitting in the 2-4 slot have to play an additional game that if they lost could bump them from the playoffs. But a team that is sitting at home and not playing only drops 1 spot. We're either going to count conference championship games or we aren't. And if a team doesn't play it should look like a loss not just a 1 position slide. If Clemson lost last weekend they very well could have been out of the playoffs. Like I said. We either count them or we don't. We either penalize teams for losing we damn well should penalize teams for not even being there.

I think it sets a horrible precedence. So Bama was 12-0 going in to the conf championship. What stops them from saying we're in the number 1 slot. Let's put out second string in against auburn and lose. We won't make the championship title game but we'll still make the playoffs an have kept our first string healthy by avoiding two games. But mostly I think it completely devalues conference championship games. The precedence had been set that you don't have to be champions to play in the playoffs.. Hell you don't even have to go.

And how do you look at a team like Clemson if they lost and say you're out because you lost your conf championship game but this team is in who didn't even play. We either need to count them or make them exhibition games that have no bearing on the playoffs.

And what kind of message does this send to the penn states of college football. You can come from being unranked, beat THE team to beat in the toughest conf this year, win your conference championship game, and it's still only good enough to be outside looking in. While the team you beat makes it without even playing in their conference championship game.

Glad to have you back posting Joe. Lmao

They are valid points AND make a solid argument for the 8 team play off. Every year there are going to be some really great teams not get in with the 4 team setup.

I don't agree with 8 teams. The last thing we want is a basketball type playoff. I think that when they went to the playoff system they should have kept the computer rankings and just took the top 4 teams. The complaint was the tow two shouldn't automatically get to go to the national title so we should add a playoff. The computer ranking was put in place to keep human bias out of it. Then we go and add it right back in. Computer tank all the teams based on all the stats and let the top 4 fall where they should according to stats not opinions.

Conference championships should be a factor, but not a prerequisite. The committee shouldn't box themselves in a corner by saying what exactly it takes to make it. Sometimes it's different. Look, I hate OSU more than anyone, but they are way better and more deserving than PSU. I think there is a balance between picking the 4 best teams, and 4 most deserving teams. I think they got it right this year. I think OSU will destroy Clemson, they are garbage. I think Alabama and Washington will be closer than most predict. I cant see anybody beating BAMA though

Ok cut the BS, you and everyone else wants to see Alabama and The Ohio State play for the Championship! So you can over think it and try to make the committee out to be the average joe's that they are but in the end their are 2 conference's with more than 4 quality teams that year in and year out will be in the final 4.

I'm just glad to see (in print) him saying the Big 10 is the stronger conference lol....

It's football and there's no equation that will answer every scenario out there....

Ryan, well put... I know that took a lot to say, kudos to you and your affection for the Buckeyes.... [emoji23]

Wants, tv ratings, and popularity should have zero bearing on it. Computer rank the teams based on the season stats and send the top 4. To each according to their own merit. Not to each what we think would make great TV.

Despite what most think I give credit where it's due. I also call BS the same. In years past the big 10 sucked donkey dick. Now you couldn't tell a big 10 fan that but it was the truth. The bucks didn't play anyone worth a shit but a half asses michigan and maybe a half assed Wisconsin for years. All they had to do in a season was beat those two and it was in the bag. It's nice to see real competition return to the Big 10. This year the SEC is sucking that donkey dick and the big 10 is rocking. Earlier in the season around game three I said Bama was a shithole this year and should finish about 15. I even said they were way over ranked. Something I've said about the bucks many times in years past. But they actually turned out quite good and I'm impressed with their improvement. And like him or not sabins coaching ability is shining. There's still tons to work on with the offense. Like last week against FL Hurts taking a flop 10 yards behind the line after the rush had him. That's shit that a QB should NEVER do. NEVER. Get rid of it and get back to the line. You don't eat 10 yards without even being touched first. Sure he's a true freshman but he should have learned that fundamental in HS. Or at least early season. Not taking a flop in game 13.

I see your argument Joe, but it's a wild year in the big 10. 4 teams in the top 7 is crazy! I'd put any 4 of those teams against Clemson and Washington, and they all would give Alabama fits? The committee is wanting the 4 best teams and I think they got pretty close. Although, I think Michigan would do quite well in the top 4 as well.

I need to look up the final rankings of all teams, not just the four in playoffs. Wisconsin, Penn State, and Michigan are all top ten teams in my eyes. Probably top 8 teams.

Again Bama proved that it's the team too beat, we'll see how they handle they playoffs and who they end up playing... From what I've seen it's either going to be OSU or Clemson.... I'd personally like an Alabama OSU matchup....

Personally if it was up to me it would be Alabama, Clemson, The Ohio State and the team up North play in the final four. I think Bama would struggle to beat a team with an equal defense like the team up North. I think the Big Ten has 3 of the top 4 defenses and Bama is the 4th!!!!

Yes I said 4th, let's remember they play in the sec!!!! LMAO!!!!

GO BUCKS !!!!

Typical buckeye fan. Scarlet and gray glasses.

Auburn is 5th in total defense only 1 behind your mighty bucks.. The game ended with Bama putting up 504 total yards to Auburns 182. First downs 26 to auburns 7. Auburn is ranked 6th in rushing offense, ohio state 9th. Auburn managed 66 rushing yards against Bama. And we all know ole JT struggles at throwing the ball.

Our offensive line is struggling with a lot of freshmen but they typically get the job done.. But the defensive line is predominantly seniors and on point.

My tigers did okay this year but I don't think anybody's gonna beat bama. They made us look like fools. I wouldn't mind watching it but I don't think it's gonna happen.
