My wife was talking to my SIL up in Ohio tonight and she said their power bill was out of control. She lives in London between Dayton and Columbis and has AEP. She said she used 1,100 KWH last month and her bill is $470! Her rate is 40 cents per KWH. 😳😳😳 That's crazy! Is anyone else's that high up there? My rate with the co-op here is 12c per KWH, I used 3,091 KWH and my bil is $371. 40c per KWh is lunacy!

Since 11/20/25, or 58 months, we started paying on our 100% electric home is avg. overall usage of 2,362KWH at $0.142-$0.146/KWH. New data center just go live by them by chance?

I'd have to look at cost over kilowatt, but I can tell you the bill itself is about 1/3 to 1/2 higher year to year. AEP is advertising pointing their fingers at the energy suppliers and suggests shopping rates. It's a distraction from the increased transmission rates they are receiving. They have a monopoly in many areas and some of us have no other option. It's a racket.

This is exactly where we are, but I have Intel and all those data centers being built less ten miles from my front door. It is a mess and AEP is gouging us all.

Mine and our neighbors has doubled.

My property taxes doubled as well. Day we found out was the a day later than you could contest it.

Big kick in the face. Really hoping property taxes get voted to be eliminated next year . That’s a whole other subject tho.

The property tax thing will completely screw over many school districts in Ohio.

Lots of power places are up for sale. Something is going on and I expect it to get worse. They have shut down all maintenance and its basically data center work or emergency work. That's about all that is left. Preventive maintenance and routine upgrades have all gone away. Pretty rough out here right now.

How so? Didn’t they rule the present system unconstitutional a couple decades ago?
Schools, police, and fire are predominantly funded via property taxes. What happens to their budgets if property taxes are eliminated? Where do we generate the lost revenue?

Simple solution have the banks make less on a 30 year mortgage have them pay so much.

Ever done the math on a 30 year mortgage then add in your property taxes. Then when ya sell the tax that’s imposed.

If you own something you should own it. You shouldn’t loose it or have to move due to taxes.

Schools will survive . Banks don’t need to make double what they lent ya do they? Could they make a little less? Maybe take out my property taxes from making double in 30 years?

Property taxes in TN are a fraction of what they are in Ohio. TN has zero state, local, or school district income taxes. They seem to be able to do it. Now I understand that it is not a true apples to apples comparison but is an example.

Some states have ridiculous license plate costs to offset it as well as the higher sales tax. I agree they will take it from somewhere.
