After mowing the yard today, I took the leaf blower and was cleaning the grass from the pavers and driveway. When I got near this tree by the koi pond, BAM!! Took one one the back of the neck from a bald faced hornet! Went and got some hornet spray and hit the nest in the upper right hand corner of the last photo. Went out later to make sure there were no survivors and that’s when I noticed the second nest in the lower left hand corner...I was only about three feet away and they were near the nest entrance looking like they were getting ready for a second attack. I got the hornet spray again and took out nest number two. I always thought that once a hornets nest was established, there wouldn’t be another nest in the nearby area. Guess I was wrong! Never seen two nests so close. One was about the size of a softball and the other a bit smaller than a soccer ball. Them dirty bastards!😂😂

Isn’t that paper hornets that make the best?
Google bald faced hornets...you’ll see their nests. They are very common around here. We get those European hornets also but most times they’ll nest in a hole in a tree or in the ground. I’d rather get stung multiple times by a bald faced hornet then one time by a European hornet....them bitches hurt!

We had to take care of a couple nests a year at the state park I worked at years ago. Our go to was a simple branch wrapped torch soaked in kerosene/fuel oil. The one I had to do I got up on a ladder on the bed of the 1-ton truck. Was standing up there holding the torch underneath and you could hear those little fucker's wings on fire as they fell to the ground. I had one out of nowhere land on my forearm (not on fire :ROFLMAO: ) and walk down to almost my elbow before it fell off, luckily without stinging me. That wouldn't have been pretty up on that ladder half way into pissing the entire nest off and getting stung.
