Yes. Once the sun starts shining bright a lot of things reflect heat. It makes it a little more difficult to discern deer from other spots. Still doable but you’ll check a lot of false spots.

I should add when it’s dark or overcast I can pretty much sit in the middle of a couple hundred acre crp field, spin around 360 and know where 90% of the critters are. I’m bright sunlight you really need to search through a lot of hot spots.

I’m interested to see the change in his patterns as the rut nears.

He may not be anywhere near this spot. Corn and beans are coming off rapidly all around. That is a big change to the environment for this group of deer. But who knows, maybe they will stick around.

Seth and I rode a half hour down the highway tonight to help this fella out. He is colorblind. His wife does the tracking and it started pouring rain while they were looking for blood. He made a decent shot but the deer was quartered towards at the shot. It took a minute or so to find the deer in crp. Fortunately she was close to a path so recovery was a breeze. Everyone but the coyotes are happy.
