Things I've learned in life

I've been a little angry lately over stupid things. When this happens I try and reflect on good things. Today I've been dwelling on a thought...

"In 5 years from now, I'll be more disappointed in the things I didn't do, rather then the things I did."

Life goes by incredibly fast and only seems to go by faster as the days go by. I'm wasting time being pissed off at nothing.

That's one of the reasons I quit drinking almost 6 years ago. I'm doing shit now that I could of been doing in my early 20's. I'm behind everybody else on most aspects of life because of it, but I'm slowly catching up, doing the things I want to do, and not being held back.

Good way to look at life. We only get one chance at living so within reason make the best of it. But don't do expensive fun now and then suffer in later life with no retirement to live comfortable on.
Too many people piss away all their income when younger then get to retirement age and can't quit working. Prepare for retirement and enjoy your later years in peace of mind.

Spot on Dave. There are times we are forced to keep cranking. The times we are able to enjoy life, we need to make sure we do. Right now I am in a position where I need to keep the pedal to the metal. No point in being angry about it. Need to be thankful. Everything we have, good or bad, is a blessing. They all mold and shape us into who we are. Don't let your moments mold you into an angry or bitter man. You are better than that! Hang tough buddy!

I could write a novel on this given what all I've been through in the last 5 years. Hard to pick any one lesson that really stands out above the rest. As long as we never stop learning, we'll constantly be getting better.

Write away, it could help a fellow brother. I also find it easier to believe if I put it in writing/type.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Some things are toxic in life and you HAVE to let them go, some things are worth fighting for. I have many regrets in life over the years so Dave your own comments are spot on however don't dwell on what you should have but what you are going to do. My goals this year are to hunt with my dad and kids...at the same time. I spent years being selfish trying to kill the monster bow-only. All I have is regret if I think about it enough. Too much time fly's by and before you know it you cannot do the things you used to take for granted.

It's not about me.

Took me more than 30 years to figure this out and honestly, there are still days I forget this lesson. We can't neglect ourselves, but we can't feed our egos either.

I learned a hard one tonight. No matter how much you build yourself up, those "hard talks" are still hard on you. Having a heart to heart with a 15 year old that isn't yours is rough. Let's hope we both come out better men...

Glad you were able to have the talk with him, but don't let up on him. Make him earn that window. Be a man of your word with him, you are a good example.

Yupper!

Great on the heart to heart but he needs to feel the consequences for his actions in his wallet too, IMO.

Good advice being offered here TOO!:smiley_clap:
