I appreciate the compliments fellas, thanks a million. After Kate gets home from class, we are going to decide on a mount and get him to the taxidermist. I did a quick score on him last night and came up with 128", and I was guessing he would be around 130".
I am gonna head out and hang a stand in the corner where I saw Claw, and hope to get a chance at a shot over the next few days. My best chance would probably be this weekend, but unfortunately I have to work nights. My time will come though, I have faith.

Truly awesome hunt. I had such high hopes Kate and you would score this year. After seeing Kate shoot at the BEC I knew if one gave her the chance she could take it out.
Way to go Kate, Congrats on a great buck.

She was. She was excited, but upset that she had spine shot him. She couldn't figure out what she had did wrong and it bothered her. I told her that there was nothing she did wrong, and that her shot was spot on, he just ducked the arrow.
Working on video some today. My computer can't handle 1080p, so I have to tone it down to 720p first, then put it all together.

Same thing I was thinking. That's a tough pill to swallow, even for experienced deer hunters.
Nope, he just went down. It's hard to explain, but she was shooting uphill. When she shot, he arched his back and came down. She clipped the left lung and caught the bottom of his spine. You can hear the gurgling sound when he goes down.
Her shot was spot on, he just dropped on the release of the arrow. Shows you just how quick a deer can react.

I'd say the upward angle had alot to do with the high hit Greg. Theres no doubt he jumped the string on her but at such close range and at that angle you tend to hit high anyway. The bottomline is she made a great shot with the chips on the line and you got to experience it with her and got it on film! I'm so stoked for you both! I bet she/you didn't get much sleep last night!lol

Here are two pictures from the footage. I slowed the video down to frame by frame and played it through. The first pic is just before the shot and the pointer shows where the arrow hit. The second pic shows the actual impact and how far he dropped. The total time between the two pics is two tenths of a second, or six frames.
