Hello....anybody out there?

My wife has a few starters going. Looking pretty good, had them out in the wind for a while this weekend.

Looking good Giles. We got onions, radishes, and turnips in the dirt last Saturday. Probably be another month or so before we start getting everything else in.

I got a load of free cow manure and spread it out, then hit it with the tiller for the first time on Friday. I'm going after a load of horse shit soon. I want to till once more first. I've acquired most of my seeds. When my work shop is done, I can start stuff indoors. That'll be a winter project to get ready for next year!

The cow manure was 1/2 bedding matieral and the horse manure is well composted. These aren't heaping truck loads either. She'll be fine.

I just filled the jiffy pots with some pickling cucumbers for naturally fermented pickles, regular cucumbers & some basil / cilantro / dill. I'll fill the rest of the garden up with better boy and probably a few heirloom.

I'm jealous of all you guys with those giant gardens like Jesse. I'm stuck with a 6' x 12' raised bed and a few pots lol

Heck ya Ron! Hope your harvests are bountiful and the weeds stay at bay.

This is why we don't plant until after Memorial Day up here....what the hell lol.

I really look forward to starting some plants inside next year! But for right now, I need to go from seed outside or buy plants. I'm gathering both right now and just spent an hour going over notes to prep for this year. I'm downsizing just a tad in the big garden, but adding some stuff here at the house. I'll get some pics up this weekend of the new planter box here at the house, and the big garden after we get it fenced and tilled. After the trouble I had with deer last year, it's time for a fence.

I usually dont get too antsy for a couple more weeks up here. I will spray some roundup this weekend and do a first tilling probably early next week. Im downsizing my tomato plants. Usually do 16 total, but last couple years I have had way too many. I am going to do more sweet corn, spread out in 2 different batches. Less cucumbers and more cabbage, lettuce, and eggplant. I have a couple spots in my property where I think Im gonna do my zucchini mounds on their own. I'll be able to maintain them better from weeds and space all my other stuff out. As always, no matter how well intentioned I am, Im sure I will overdo it and squeeze too much stuff in and piss and moan all summer about being on my hands and knees weeding

Built this yesterday from some barn lumber I salvaged from a barn we tore down at the farm. It's white oak that was most likely cut from the farm as well. I sowed some green onions and radishes on the backside today. It breaks up the monotony of the back of the house and provides some fun here at the house.

Been slowly plugging away at it. As per Milo's suggestion I went with cedar lumber. Good golly. That hurt. Spend it once, cry once.

Got the dry weather to finally screen some top soil. Blended some compost into it. Placed them in an area already slightly elevated. Didn't fill them quite all the way so we can add some compost over the next couple years. Looking forward to trying something different. Our previous gardens have been out of control with weeds. Hopefully this one is easier to keep weeded.

Need to get some new 3/8 tubing so I can add irrigation to it. That and some mulch or straw around the plants is all I have left to do.
