TOO Homesteading

I got a call earlier from a guy I played ball with in high school. He works for USPS in Athens. He said my chicks were there and he'd save them a day in transit if I wanted to meet him this evening, so of course I took him up on it. It saved us 24 hours and probably prevented any from dying in transit. The runt was clearly cold when I got them home, so he did us a real solid by reaching out.

I stopped to check this bad boy out today thinking I might buy one rather than build one since I want them in a different location this time. Pretty sweet setup, but I guessed $5K and was only off $300. I'll stick with my original plan to build a new coop in the barn, then build a new run in the spring. But if money were no object, this would be a nice purchase.

Fox have found us. Got the last turkey today and a few chickens over the last 10 days. Part of it but i still can't convince her to leave the damn things in the run!

Made a make shift kiln this afternoon and firing it up. It's a marvelous night for a moon dance. Will be baked watching pottery bake tonight. Pretty fun shit. Hope it doesn't explode. Never touched much clay that wasn't already harden brick form. Fun night ahead.

view from the road, Im keeping my distance it's popping clicking and banging in this thing. Hopefully there's still a bowl intact in there. I'll look when it's cooled down.

Sealed the door and flu at 320 last night, it's currently still hot as hell, not sure how long it will take to cool down. If nothing else and this doesn't pan out I've enjoyed learning how most of the world was and is still being built with clay.
