That looks like a beat down . I didn't get to hunt at all this weekend due to a family emergency . Hoping to make up for it this weekend.

We had a first ever band on Tuesday. We got a Jack Miner band. I have never seen one before and didn't even know how special it was until we looked it up. They have a small bible verse on them and some even have rewards. Ours didn't of course

That's awesome . I haven't ever shot a miner band but several friends have . Pretty amazing when ya consider the odds . I was with a friend when he shot a Miner banded mallard with the verse " I walk among you " on it . Anyone who waterfowl hunts should google Jack miner and read up on some cool stuff .

Congratulations

Had a great goose hole lined up for this morning. Open water surrounded by frozen marsh... a few hundred geese day-roosting in it and lots of traffic in the area as well. Had high hopes for it. Unfortunately, once again, I was beat to the spot this morning. That's twice now in the last week and a half. Frustrating as hell...

Water opened back up elsewhere, so wasn't as much flying the river. We managed 5. One beauty Goldeneye drake. As bad as a year as it was, I am still sad to see it come to an end.

We returned to our public land spot today after getting sniped two weeks ago. Last trip, I was 100 yards from the spot when guys in a boat saw us, the hammered down and shut her off as I was dropping over the bank. After them proclaiming they were their first and me telling them to take up sexual relations with their mothers, we suffered through a miserable hunt in a different spot.

So this morning we got an earlier start and it almost happened again. Same boat, same dudes, same spot. We're 100 yards out and I take off sprinting through the woods with a 75 pound pack on my pack. Right before they shut the motor off, I lit them up like a Christmas tree with my spotlight. I heard the one dude say "Shit..." then "Good luck buddy." They motored on down river and we set up.

Hunting sucked dick. But at least we beat them to the spot! lmao

Least they were nice enough to wish ya luck , instead of telling you to have intercourse with your mama .

Hahaha!! True.

You duck hunt public enough you'll have both experiences. Either you get there first or you get beat. Either way, just be cool and always have a back up plan in mind.

We got skunked today. The sun being out really keeps the geese from flying in the mornings. The will stay all day until evening to feed. Tomorrow should be great. Took the wife and kid scouting and found a field with 700+ geese and got permission. With rain coming in late morning it should be a very good season ending hunt.

HA. True. I'd have kept that thought to myself had I not been provoked. It wasn't a pleasant discussion from the point one of them said: "Tough shit..." after I explained that they had a boat and therefore dozens of options and that we had driven an hour, packed in 3/4 of a mile and this was our only option. Maybe not the nicest thing I could have said, but at the moment, it felt right...

That's awesome on the band Marcus. Great seeing the joy on your daughters face through this years deer and waterfowl seasons!

We had a great season ending hunt. We killed 21 today putting us at 226 for the year. That is a new record for us and we couldn't be happier. We introduced this fine young man to field hunting not long ago and he is hooked.
