Son was involved in a wreck a little over a week ago, his wife and our grandson were with him. Tundra was totaled with all the airbags deployed . Son and and grandson unscathed, DIL was hanging onto the oh shit handle and fractured her wrist.
She required surgery for the fix with plates, screws and temporary pins.
Car seat did exactly what it was supposed to do, as well as the airbags. Unfortunately arms, hands can be a victim of the deployment.
Currently on the lookout on a low mileage 2.5 Gen SR5 Tundra….. 2020-2021.
Car seat has been replaced, old one had the straps cut off and placed out to the curb on trash day for pickup.

Glad to hear they are safe and that the vehicle did as it was supposed to and sacrificed itself for its passengers.

Yep, I was thoroughly impressed with the lack of inside carnage as the outside carnage was severe. The wife was already down there and I went down the next day. Cleaned out his truck and got everything home. And we left my tundra with him until he gets a replacement. Insurance has already paid out and he’s currently shopping around.

Frame & engine replacements vs. hard shifts, steering shaft clunks, early replacement needed on wear parts, etc....not even close🤣
What would GM, Ford, or RAM have done in a similar situation?
GM had camshaft issues in their 305 motors back in the 80’s IIRC they offered to put new cams and associated parts to fix the issue. They offered the parts, the owner had to pay the labor….. My brother had one of the monte Carlo’s with that motor. There’s been plenty of examples over the years of all the manufacturers having issues. It’s how they stand behind the issues that stand out.

Please see above....you were offered the extended warranty🤣

Every vehicle wears and breaks down. Difference here is that one manufacture is standing behind the product and making it right. Minor inconvenience to the customer, but not an out of pocket repair.

Can we get a count of how many people paid $ out of pocket, on any brand full size truck, while under warranty, or extended? And why?

I believe the industry considers the Tundra a full size truck, and the Tacoma a midsized truck. Above just calls out the 2 different brands under GM vs the only option under Yota. I don't see hardly any Tundras ever towing or being used like a full size truck in my world (which is limited Ill admit). Tacoma's....well I think Ford launched a new replacement for the ranger to compare to🤣

I still think it's a great seperate thread for a topic on its own.
